Updates for my Portfolio for March 2023

I have finally completed my National Service Reservist obligations and I am happy that I am finally done with it. It was a meaningful role during my reservist to better the health of patients who will need it. So a chapter in life have finally closed.

Just received the tax bill but I guess next year, would be loads lesser as I don't have my shift premiums until the end of year.
At the same time, I kinda have some bandwidth to work on my side projects. I have been looking more at my interests since last year, and I realise perhaps I can do something with them. For the one that I have been working a long time, it is sad to say that I found a huge flaw in it and one of the main suppliers I have been using since the beginning actually has a consistency issue. Sigh, I managed to fix the filter issues I have been experiencing. Nevertheless I will press on.
I am rather concerned about the longevity of my job, which I feel is expected, similar to how semiconductor and O&G in Singapore. Hopefully I find a hustle or an alternative career path by end of this year.
I am still working on the 2022 review though.
  • Buy HKBN at 5.82
    • Reasons/Notes
      • This is kinda interesting.
      • This company is being offered to be bought out at a low amount, thanks to a broad market drop.
      • The yield is like 10%!
      • The company actually many employees have a stake in this company too. I doubt they would accept the low ball offer. There could be a bidding war to buy over this company. Even if it falls through, I still get a nice dividend counter.
      • I didn't really huge on it thanks to recent share performances like Illumina, GAPack and stuff. Kinda wary.
That's all for my money for now.

That being said, I see the market is slowing yet nothing really feels cheap.HK still feels that there are counters that are kinda cheap but I am still very worried about running out of cash though.

I have place a small % of my net worth in crypto-assets.

Conclusion

My portfolio YTD is now 68.34% (not that representative yet), with the long term XIRR at -6.93%. Hopefully, the rest of 2023 is much better.

My cash position is currently at about 6%. Will continue wait for my cash position to accumulate while waiting. Let's hope I can get my numbers back on track.
