Updates for my Portfolio for May 2021

For my side project, I am going to rerun some upscaling validation studies again with controls, another variable that it brings in is the equipment being used, which means more controls are needed. Not to mention seems like more and more people have the similar ideas as me, which is worrying I guess.
  • Buy Trade Desk at 545
    • Reasons
      • The Trade Desk Inc., based in Ventura, California, is the largest independent demand-side platform (DSP) providing real-time ad pricing and placement for advertisers at agencies and brands. It offers brands and media buyers a self-service platform to manage data-driven advertising campaigns across various ad formats and devices. The company’s self-service software platform also includes integrations with data, inventory, and publisher partners; enterprise APIs facilitate custom development on the platform.
      • I queued at about 110 PE which is rather close to the lower range of the 3 year PE.
      • What happened was the market gap down pre-market and immediately filled my order, I didn't even had time to adjust my order again.
      • Although it fell further, but fortunately, it has recovered past my entry price.

  • Sell Jardine Cycle and Carriage at 21.62
    • Reasons
      • I ran out of cash for more attractive purchases so I just took some minor profits and switched. It is a pity to see that 7% yield gone.
      • That being said, I do wonder if UOB was a better purchase than JC&C though.
  • Buy Alibaba at 204.8
    • Reasons
      • Adding my 3rd tranche of Alibaba due to it being beaten down.

That's all for my money for now. I stopped trading with VT because of funds being needed to route for share purchases.

The tech have been dipping recently there could be potentially more favorable additions. I wish Tencent would plunge further as I want to add more.

I have place a small % of my net worth in crypto-assets, but I failed to capitalise of the dips due to the lack of funds, no thanks to FSMOne autosweep additional processing time that I wasn't aware of.

Conclusion

My portfolio YTD is now ~13%, with the long term XIRR at 3.89%, vastly underperforming. Even if crypto is excluded, YTD would be ~18%, with long term XIRR of 4.47%.

My cash position is currently at about 13%. Probably keep an eye out for opportunities while conserving cash (there's still a balance transfer the size of about 7% of my portfolio ready).
