I stumbled across an article in BI and actually thought that it was pretty simple and rational.

Don't worry, it's not about severe self deprivation and hoarding money.

It points out two simple points of the wealthy compared to the average person:
  • The wealthy person eats 30% less compared to the average person.
  • The wealthy person saves 30% more of their income compared to the average person.
I believe this actually quite achievable for many.

Make some meals at home (pack lunch or whipping something up for dinner), might take some effort, but you'll find it is worth it. You'll find your savings will slowly increase. =)

One might also look at trimming certain expenses that you wouldn't actually care about, be it a phone plan that is more costly than you actually need it to be (no need to get a 5-10GB plan when you only need 1GB a month. No, being more value for money isn't exactly useful when you don't use it.).

Start little by little, it takes time to get used to the routine. But set goals and deadlines (but not too extreme and tight, you'll end up breaking it), to get there.

Hope it helps!
