New CPFIS Funds in Endowus

Endowus is introducing a new fund to the CPFIS portfolio. I am rather excited about the offering as it was something I have been asking about when I saw the S&P500 fund there.

I think for those of you invested, one of the funds you are invested in is Harris Associates Global Equity Fund by Natixis.

The new fund that is coming in is Infinity Global Stock Index Fund by LionGlobal, which is exclusive to Endowus for CPF Investment Scheme

So what is this fund about?

Infinity Global Stock Index Fund is a feeder fund into Vanguard Global Stock Index Fund, which tracks the MSCI World Free Index, a basket of 1600 global stocks.

Here are some benefits for it:
  • Diversification of 1600 global stocks rather than the 44 (Harris Associates Global Equity Fund), a few companies blowing up (which could be higher considering this virus pandemic), the impact is much reduced.
  • Taking part in the global growth of the world with wide exposure, and a long time horizon would definitely help us in growing our wealth passively.
  • Worry less about underperformance as you are buying a benchmark where global unit trusts/fund managers compare themselves against. Which also means you probably won’t pick the worse fund resulting in terrible performance.
  • Low fees by switching to a passive managed fund.
I also made a brief comparison between the two.

Using my own Endowus portfolio as an example, this reduces my costs by 13.3% at fund level!

Remember that costs do play a part of our returns.

Just that 0.16% would give you $25,000 for each $100,000 you are invested in!

Compared to the industry wide unit trust market (2.5%) we have in Singapore, we can see such outrageous high fees. Imagine how much more if we are contributing regularly.

I made some screenshots on how it looks like when the change is being implemented:

You should get an email in your mail box informing you of the change:

There, you will log in to confirm the changes.

Once you're done, you'll get an email from Endowus about them implementing the change.

And a few days later, you'll get this email about the successful change.

Just sharing some of my thoughts, for those of you who are also on the fence because of the recent market volatility, regardless of whether the market will go down further or go back up, starting now when everything is reasonably cheap is a good idea.

Be it averaging down further or buying into the recovery would work out in your favor.
