Well, Steam Summer Picnic Sales are on now~ (until 4th July)

I have an habit of buying games and/or consoles when the prices are going on a discount.

Same as stocks, the best time to get them are when they are on sale, when you can get them for a discount (especially solid gems), kinda like paying 50cents for a dollar.

For example, my PS3 was bought more than a year later after the launch, after the hype has died down, and prices have began to fall. I waited 5 years for my desktop GPU to be upgraded as technology became cheaper and cheaper. My smartphone is normally at most the 2nd newest model (I bought S4 late last year, camera and the onboard audio chip is much better, but battery and durability is bad) or even the non-flagship models (Huawei G6 4G, probably my next phone).

Most of my PS3 games are also bought 2nd hand (Blu Ray is damned durable :D ), and now my Steam games, my recent purchase, Tomb Raider 2013, is ~$5, instead of $20 (~75% discount).

Don't forget in the meantime, your bank account (especially higher yielding ones) is gaining interest while waiting (Cha-Ching!) and getting a discount for the purchase. Talk about double the savings :D

That being said, I would check on reviews and gameplay videos on whether I would like it, and guess the worse case scenario to see if it is worth the price even at a discount.

At least to me, buying on a significant discount not only gives me a cheaper price for more "value", it also provides a sort of a "margin of safety" that you can say, it is a breakeven for the price (that being said, I get some I disliked, i.e. Trine, but got it for ~$2, instead of $15).

Of course, enjoy your games!
